Subject: WHAT'S HAPPENING! - June 20, 2014

***PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONIES***

Tuesday, June 24
The Graduation and Prize-giving Ceremony for the Class of 2014 (Grade 6) is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge commencing at 5:30 p.m. Kindly note that classes for all students will be dismissed at 12 NOON on this day.

Please be guided by the following:

• Final rehearsal will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. at the venue (Mona Visitors’ Lodge). Students will be transported to the venue for the rehearsal. Parents/guardians are asked to pick up their children/wards promptly at 6:00 p.m.

 

• On Graduation Day, students (Grade 6) are to arrive at Mona Visitors’ Lodgeby 4:45 p.m.

• No member of the audience will be allowed to photograph students during the function. Bryan’s Photo Studio will be contracted to do the photographs of the graduates throughout the Ceremony. You are asked to make the arrangements regarding the number of photographs needed at the Bursar’s Office. Bryan’s Photo studio will provide a proof sheet for parents/guardians to select the photographs they will require. Each photograph will cost $200.

 

• Dress code for graduation – hair, nails, socks and shoes should be in keeping with the School’s uniform regulations.

***SCHOOL ACTIVITIES***

Thursday, June 26
Each year, the Performing Arts students and teachers organise a concert (Showfest) to showcase the items that were presented at the JCDC’s Festival in that year. This year’s Showfest will be held at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre. The event is expected to commence at 6:00 p.m. Kindly note that classes for all students will be dismissed at 12 NOON on this day.

Thursday, June 26
Jampak Import Company will be hosting a Book Fair on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend and purchase textbooks for the upcoming Academic Year 2014/2015. A swipe card machine will be available on location to facilitate credit/debit card transactions.

Friday, June 27
The PTA Fun Fair will be held on the last day of the School Year (Friday, June 27, 2014). Kindly note that there will be no classes on this day.

***BOOK COLLECTION***(collection of books the children will use from the booklist)

Parents/Guardians are asked to submit the books for their children/wards to their respective class teachers on the following days in the upcoming school year:

• August 28 to 29         Kindergarten (please label all items)
• September 2              Grade 1 to 6

***SPORTS***

Swimming
Parents/Guardians who are interested in purchasing swimwear for their children/wards may do so at Loran-V Boutique Limited (Shop #2, Northside Plaza, 26 Northside Drive, Kingston 6). The cost of the swimwear is $1,631 each (for boys and girls).

Cricket
Students from Grade 3 to 6 who are interested in joining the cricket team (2014/2015) are encouraged to attend training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:00 p.m.

***OTHER***

Summer School
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to register their children/wards early for summer school. Registration forms can be downloaded from the School’s website using the following link Link or collected from the Front Desk.

The Summer School period will be as follows:

• Three (3) weeks from June 30 to July 17, 2014for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6A
• Four (4) weeks from June 30 to July 25, 2014 for students in Grade 6 (8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

(Please note that Summer School classes are held from Mondays to Thursdays ONLY.)
