Subject: New Year's Letter

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

It is often said that a new year gives rise to new opportunities. Our hope is that we will all be able to seize every new opportunity that presents itself during the year and make the best use of it.

We are sure that our collective efforts will allow us to capture the photographs of successful scenes that will add to our collage of achievements as an educational community.   In this vein, we would like to inform the community that Mr. Green (security personnel) is now employed to Mona Preparatory School. It is our hope that everyone will make him welcome and support him in his role.

Every Parent/Guardian is encouraged to make note of the following:

  • Parent/Teacher conference (January 24, 2013): A three pronged approach is designed to guide the strategic conversation 1. Strengths 2. Weaknesses 3. Strategies for improvement. The time sheets are already up for you to select your time slots.
  • STEM Programme (Engineering Laboratory): The pilot programme will commence next week (the week commencing January 14, 2013). Mr. Marvin Hall and his team will be carrying out class observations this week to note class dynamics to be better equipped to work with the children.
  • Mentorship: Our Mentorship Programme for our GSAT students will commence Monday, January 14, 2013. All our students have been assigned to teachers who will mentor them for the period leading up to the GSAT Examination.
  • Price Increases: We will inform you timely about items that are sold at the cafeteria that will attract a price increase. Kindly view our information sheets that will be posted in the cafeteria before you make your purchases.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: All Extra-Curricular Activities will commence next week (the week commencing January 14, 2013).
  • 95 In 5 Programme for Literacy - Special “Word Power Certificates” will be given to the children in the Kindergarten Department who are able to recognize a minimum of 90% of the words introduced to them in the “95 In 5” Programme.
  • Powerful Teachers in Concert: This term we will showcase the many talents of the teaching staff in our “Powerful Teachers in Concert” event. This will be held in the Church Hall on February 21, 2013. We will have two shows (a matinee and an evening show) on the day to cater to all our parents and students. Kindly place this date on your calendars. More details will be provided at a later date.
  • Curriculum Guides: Curriculum Guides will be prepared for circulation this week. Kindly ensure that you obtain the document to assist your child/ward with curriculum related concepts.
  • Jeans Day and School Spirit Day: This will be held the last Friday in January (January 25, 2013).

 

NB. Kindly keep your calendar of events in a conspicuous place to be reminded of all our activities.
