HERITAGE DAY
Heritage Day will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2025. The national theme is "One Love, One People, One Heritage". Mona Preparatory School will recognise this year's celebration under the theme - "Heritage: Fusion of the Arts". The day promises to be a fun-filled one with several exciting activities, rides and refreshments. Some of the activities include grade level parade of costumes, music, dance and speech performances.

The grade level costume assignments are as follows:
Costumes for K1 to K3 are to represent the characters in Jonkonnu as follows:
K1: Pitchy Patchy
K2 Johnson: Police, Apache Indians, Sailor
K2 McLean: Bride/Groom/Set Girl (beautifully dressed girls with, head ties, a fan and white gloves)
K3: King/Queen/Actor Boy (happy/sad face mask or Horse-head mask)
Grade 1: Farming outfit - Boys: Khaki pants and plaid shirt, waterboots and broad hat; Girls: Long flair skirt, peasant style blouse, sneakers
Grade 2: The 80s - Boys: Dress pants, white dress shirt, black shoes; Girls: Flair dress, black dress shoes with socks
Grade 3: Market outfit and props (examples of props include: small market basket with fruits, vegetables, peanuts, scale, apron etc.)
Grade 4: Bandana
Grade 5: Market outfit and props (examples of props include: small market basket with fruits, vegetables, peanuts, scale, apron etc.)
Grade 6: Boys: Mesh merino/white t-shirt and jeans pants and sneakers; Girls: Neon-coloured T-shirt and jeans pants and sneakers

Fun Activities
There will be rides throughout the day, games and disco rooms will also be in operation. To have your child participate, kindly complete the permission slip (collect from the teacher or see attached).
The rides will include:
Merry-go-round
Aeroplane carousel
Mickey bounce house with slide
Paw Patrol bounce-a-bout with slide
Jungle obstacle
Double-lane rock climber
Zip line
Avengers Bouncer with Slide

K1-Grade 2 parents/guardians who are available to attend are invited to assist the teachers on October 17, 2025 with the supervision of the rides. Please speak with your child/ward's Class Teacher for guidance.

The ticket packages will be available for purchasing from your child/ward's class teacher commencing Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

MID-TERM BREAK
Please be advised that the mid-term break will take place from Monday, October 20 to Tuesday, October 21, 2025. During this period, the school will be closed. School will reopen for all students on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

MID-TERM TESTS
The mid-term tests will be administered as follows:
October 23-30, 2025: Kindergarten 1 to Grade 1
October 22-27, 2025: Grades 2 to 6

We kindly encourage parents to assist their children with regular revision and preparation at home to help them perform their best. The teachers will provide further information regarding the material for revision.

CALENDAR UPDATE
Please note that Girls' Day will be observed on Friday, October 31, 2025. On this day, only girls will attend school; no school for boys on this day. Additional details will be shared closer to the date.
